Do you want to have the opportunity to grow and develop in our company and be a part of Boliden´s journey? The Mine Technical Service is now searching for a Drill and blast Engineer with location Aitik.
The Mining Technology section is responsible for Aitik's mine planning, mine maps, geology and production-related technology and development issues. We work to create conditions for efficient production and the work is carried out in close collaboration with other sections and departments. The section consists of teams specialized in Geology, Mine surveying, Mine planning, Drill and blast technology, Geotechnology and Geohydrology and Production technology.
Description
As a Drill and Blast Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for planning and optimizing drilling and blasting operations. In this role, you will work on planning and act as an expert on issues and decisions related to drilling, charging, and blasting. You will also be involved in the follow-up and development of drilling and blasting activities to optimize fragmentation and costs. Additionally, you will handle safety-related matters in the field, such as conducting risk assessments and investigations. You will provide support to supervisors and blasting crew in production regarding drilling and blasting questions.
Areas of responsibility:
- Develop drilling, charging and blasting designs
- Update blasting maps and plan for evacuation during blasting
- Follow-up and manage explosive inventory and initiate purchases when needed
- Assist with mine planning, drill and blast and scheduling to meet the operational targets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geologists, mining engineers, and production crews to optimize blasting performance and achieve production targets.
- Monitor and analyze blast result, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Provide technical expertise and support to operational teams
- Reporting of drill and blast QAQC activities
- Coordinate and contact with contractors/suppliers of drilling equipment and explosives
What you bring:
As a person you are open, result oriented and communicative. You are structured, thorough and have good collaborative skills. You like to work independently as well as in a team and want to participate in developing ways of working and optimizing production. You have Mining engineering education or as the company sees as equivalent and minimum 5 years’ experience in the mining industry, specifically working as a Drill and Blast Engineer in open pit mining operations. Previous experience in using Deswik or equivalent for mine design and scheduling software is meritorious and electronic detonator experience is an advantage. You should be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written English. If you are proficient in Swedish that is a merit. Category B driving license is a requirement.
