Where You’ll Belong
We are looking for an Experienced Troubleshooter within Embedded Systems to join our team of senior troubleshooters within Core System Platform, which is part of R&D at Volvo Cars. You will play an important part in making the car ownership a great experience by reducing the time spent waiting to get customer support.
Our focus is to find root causes behind challenging software related issues that are found in our new car platform. This is a centralized in-vehicle compute cluster. It is designed to host vehicle applications, reaching from basic vehicle state machines to advanced active safety and autonomous drive features.

You are a genuine problem solver with a positive and solution-oriented mind-set. Taking on new challenges or trying things out is part of your DNA. You are a self-motivated individual and a responsible team player with experience and great interest in troubleshooting.
There is a wide range of knowledge areas that are valuable to us and we appreciate a diversity of interests. Some of us are software engineers with experience from C/C++ in an embedded development context, while some of us like to be more involved in performing hands-on fault tracing in cars onsite. This is where your individual experience and curiosity come into play. You will influence your days at work based on those. What we have in common so far is engineering and that we are comfortable in working in and around code. Let’s describe a few more areas that you may have experience from. You might have:
good knowledge of an embedded OS and/or Linux / QNX / AUTOSAR
good knowledge of debugging common software problems like segmentation faults, race conditions, thread safety, performance issues, memory consumption issues, etc.
good knowledge of configuration / build environments like Jenkins, docker, vagrant or similar
performed various testing with software or embedded electronics and enjoy making scripts to interact with systems
Qualifications
Troubleshooting experience beyond debugging code
Communication & Networking Skills – To be comfortable in interacting with people and finding the needed ways forward
University degree in engineering or equivalent working experience
At least five years of work experience
Meritorious
Automotive experience
Experience from working with CAN/LIN protocols
Skills in network analysis with tcpdump / wireshark
Skills in crashdump analysis with gdb
Good knowledge of TCP/IP, working with networking / automotive protoc
