Senior CFD Engineer - Aerodynamics

We are looking for Senior CFD Engineer - Aerodynamics to strengthen our team in Ängelholm, Sweden. As a Senior CFD Engineer -Aerodynamics at Koenigsegg you will be responsible for the aerodynamic development of our road cars using a combination of CFD and vehicle testing. You will be joining the rapidly growing CFD team and working in a fast-paced environment with short decision paths. You will be working as an individual contributor and a team player to formulize and investigate the concepts to achieve the vehicle performance targets. You are ambitious, curious, collaborative and have a genuine passion for technology and vehicles.
You will be working closely with technical specialists and cross functional teams to provide technical expertise for vehicle development programs. You will be planning, conducting, benchmarking and presenting the results to the leadership. Multidisciplinary interfaces with other vehicle development disciplines and departments are your daily routine. You are expected to decompose the vehicle specification to attributes and aero development plan for high performance targets. Defining the functional architecture targets for active aero devices, suspension systems, test specifications and simulation validations are some of your responsibilities.
As a key team member, your role will encompass a diverse set of responsibilities:
- CFD Model Development : Construct and prepare intricate CFD models for aero simulations.
- Simulation Execution : Perform simulations with precision and thoroughness.
- Result Analysis : Conduct comprehensive analysis of simulation results.
- Interpretation and Reporting : Articulate clear interpretations of findings and deliver impactful presentations in detailed reports.
- Design Propositions : Propose innovative design solutions and evaluate conceptual approaches.
- Method Development : Contribute to the development of methodologies and implement effective processes.
- Collaboration with Validation Team : Define DVP (Design Verification Plan) and collaborate closely with the validation team.
- Cross-functional Collaboration : Work collaboratively with design and methodology engineers to develop feasible aero concepts aimed at achieving high-performance targets.
- Team Building and Mentoring : Play a pivotal role in fostering teamwork and mentorship within the team.
This multifaceted role requires a blend of technical expertise, creative thinking, and effective collaboration to drive success in the dynamic field of aero simulations and development.
Qualifications and requirements
- MSc in Mechanical/Aerospace/Automotive Engineering (PhD would be advantageous)
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Advanced proficiency in OpenFoam
- Advanced modeling skills in Catia/3Dexperience
- Advanced skills in ParaView
- Expert knowledge of CFD modeling techniques; capable of breaking down complex problems into manageable CFD investigations
- Experience in Wind tunnel testing with a strong understanding of performance measurement systems and components
- Experience in the Automotive industry, preferably in motorsports
- Formula Student experience is highly regarded
- Profound understanding of vehicle aerodynamics and fundamentals of heat transfer
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience in Star-CCM+ and Fluent would be advantageous
- Familiarity with Vehicle thermal management and system functionalities is desirable
