Welcome to Europaskolan, a Swedish school with an international heart in the center of Stockholm. We are an authorized IB World School as well as an accredited Swedish school. Our students reguarly graduate from grade nine with among the best results in Stockholm. We have a diverse student body with students who speak Swedish and English fluently and our teachers come from all over the globe.
We are currently looking for a qualified home economics teacher (grades 7 and 8) who is also interested in teaching a program of outdoor education at our farm/nature reserve at Eknäs to grades F-9. This person is also a substitute teacher during the winter months when trips to the farm are fewer and farther between.
The language of instruction is English. A high level of English fluency is required, and international teaching experience is highly valued as is a Swedish teaching license (lärarlegitimation).
Europaskolan was founded in 1998 to combine the best of Swedish and international education. We have been authorized by the International Baccalaureate® (IB) to run the Middle Years Program (MYP) since 2008 and the Primary Years Program (PYP) since 2011.
Our classes are small with motivated students. There are 2 classes per grade level from kindergarten (Förskoleklass) through the ninth grade. The atmosphere is one of warmth and respect. Your duties will be as follows:
- You will be working in an international setting with the IB PYP and MYP curricula by planning and implementing Units of Inquiry that are relevant and motivating for our students.
- You will be collaborating often with the other PYP and MYP teachers within the organization on how best to design and implement our curriculum.
- You will be planning and evaluating home economics lessons on Mondays and Fridays, and the rest of the week you will work from the farm; preparing, teaching, and evaluating your lessons.
- You will be attending one PYP or MYP team meeting per week where student care and school development are on the agenda.
- You are expected to be responsbile for the school facilities at the farm and that students are aware of the rules and regulations both on site and while in the nature reserve.
- You will be substitute teaching or providing indvidual student support on Tuesday - Thursday when not at the farm (usually between weeks 45 and 12)
- Although this position does not include mentorship responsibilities, you are expected to actively engage in the well-being of all students and participate in student care initiatives.
- You will be expected to build and maintain positive working relationships with all of your students and colleagues.
