Assistant Professor in Lighting Science
The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realization. School of Engineering is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Lighting Science
The Lighting Science research portfolio and the number of Lightning design students are growing at the School of Engineering.
Therefore, the Department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science is in need of a co-supervisor for doctoral students and examiner with a doctoral degree.
At the department, we have about 30 teachers and researchers who work in education at all levels and conduct research within the field of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science. Our vision is to create "a high-quality built environment for all". Our mission is to realise this vision by developing solutions for buildings and infrastructures that benefit people, industry, and society, co-creating a sustainable future.
The position
We are looking for new colleagues interested in contributing to our vision and mission. The main work will be to contribute to writing grant applications and establishing collaborations to require research funds, to execute a wide variety of high-quality research tasks, and to disseminate research results among peers, industry, society, and students (both verbally and in writing). It will also contain tasks such as developing courses and course material and teaching and supervising students in the first, second, and third cycle of education in lighting science and architectural engineering subjects.
Our new colleague must be committed to student learning, actively contribute to their own research and be interested in collaborating with the industry and society.
Qualifications
To be eligible for a position as an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree in a related and relevant field. The position requires fluency in English.
Research. We expect you to have published as the main author and co-author on a subject of relevance (Lighting Science and/or Lighting Technology) in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and have presented at (inter)national (peer-reviewed) conferences. It is meritorious if you have participated in (inter)national research collaborations and/or contributed to research applications. Popular science articles and/or publications in the areas related to the specific roles are meritorious as well.
Education. Documented pedagogical and teaching experience, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in a subject of relevance, is expected (Lighting Science, Architectural Lighting, Lighting Design, and/or Lighting Technology) and it is meritorious if it includes areas such as Software Engineering, Introductory and Object-oriented Programming, and/or Product Development. The appointee will demonstrate interest in supervising undergraduate projects, Masters, and doctoral students (according to opportunity).
Other merits. Other non-essential but meritorious qualifications include fluency in Swedish and/or experience of digital/digitalisation technologies.
We will put great value on your ability to contribute to the organisation, including flexibility, communication skills, quality awareness, and the ability to collaborate and build relationships. Ideally, our new colleague should be a team player with networking skills.
