Department of Animal Biosciences
New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for food and drinking water safety

About the position
Department of Animal Biosciences is recruiting an early career researcher in toxicology, with a focus on the development and use of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for food and drinking water safety. The researcher will join a research group which is focusing on the development and use of cell-based assays for hazard identification and characterization in the field of food toxicology, especially drinking water toxicology.

The successful candidate will contribute to already ongoing research projects in this group but will also be given the opportunity to develop a new research project within the field of NAMs for food and drinking water safety. The exact focus for this new research project will be decided in discussion between the group leader and the researcher and will be selected to align with the competences and interests of the researcher. The researcher will also be given the opportunity to develop as a teacher and a supervisor, e.g. by supervising master and doctoral students. The researcher is expected to take a leading role in the development and execution of the planned research as well as the writing of scientific publications. In the long run, the researcher is expected to actively apply for externa research grants to contribute to the long-term funding of the research.

Your profile
Doctoral degree in toxicology or another field relevant for this subject field (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacology). We are primarily looking for an early career researcher.

The applicant must be sufficiently fluent in English to understand, discuss and communicate science on a high level. The assessment of applications will be based primarily on the applicant's ability to conduct independent research of high scientific quality, as well as the applicant´s collaborative skills, problem-solving capacity and long-term ambition to develop as a teacher and academic researcher. The appointment will be offered to the applicant who, following a qualitative comprehensive assessment, is deemed to have the best skill set to conduct and develop the duties in question and contribute to the positive development of this field of research.
