Chief Operating Officer

The mission of your role; Shape the Future of Biologics Manufacturing

NorthX Biologics, a leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in advanced biologics, is seeking a dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to drive operational excellence across our GMP and non-GMP manufacturing sites in Matfors (HQ) and Stockholm.

As COO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient, scalable, and compliant manufacturing operations that support innovation, customer success, and long-term business growth. You will lead multi-site operations, optimize supply chains, and build a high-performing team that delivers world-class solutions to our clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.

Your Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership & Growth 

• Work closely with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement the company’s operational strategy. 

• Drive scalability, efficiency, and profitability across all manufacturing and supply chain functions. 

End-to-End Operational Excellence 

• Oversee GMP and non-GMP biologics manufacturing and ensure compliance with global regulatory standards. 

• Optimize operational planning, materials management, supply chain logistics, and procurement to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize productivity. 

• Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate operational challenges. 

Multi-Site Coordination & Team Leadership 

• Harmonize operations across Matfors and Stockholm, ensuring alignment in processes, culture, and performance metrics. 

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team across operations, supply chain, and technical functions. Foster strong collaboration between manufacturing, QC/Analytics and QA. 

• The position can be located in Sundsvall or Stockholm

Client & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Partner with commercial and project management teams to ensure operational readiness for new projects. 

• Act as a key liaison for clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction with NorthX’s manufacturing and service delivery. 

Financial & Resource Optimization 

• Oversee operational budgets, cost control measures, and resource allocation. 

• Manage capital investment projects, including facility expansions and equipment upgrades. 

What You Bring to the Role 

 Experience & Expertise 

• 10+ years of leadership experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, ideally within a CDMO. 

• In-depth knowledge of GMP & non-GMP biologics production and regulatory frameworks. 

• Proven track record in operations and/or supply chain optimization, and strategic leadership. 

 Leadership & Influence 

• A visionary leader who can drive change and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and teamwork. 

• Strong ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

 Strategic & Analytical Thinking 

• A problem-solver with the ability to translate business goals into operational success. 

• Financial acumen and experience with budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation. 

 Education 

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Operations Management, or a related field. 

• MBA is a plus but not required.
