It all started with a summer job when Jakob put on our blue-and-yellow clothes for the first time. The summer job continued as an extra job in addition to his studies and when the opportunity to become a group leader came, he took it. Then it rolled on. From group manager to department manager, then function manager and deputy department store manager. After that, he traveled to the United States to build up our department store in St. Louis. So, where has Jakob landed now, 22 years after his first job with us? Well, he is where it all began. That's where it all started for IKEA. Today he is the department store manager in Älmhult.

Working with us

At IKEA, we work with many things. But one thing remains the same – we work with people and home furnishing. We want to create a better everyday life for the many people. We do this daily in the meeting with our customers.

This summer you can start your journey at one of our functions food (food co-worker), logistics, sales or customer service (sales co-workers). We help our customers in different ways. We answer questions, handle refunds, serve food, replenish goods, plan wardrobes, tidy up our sales areas and much, much more. Whatever your tasks are, you will make a difference for our customers.

You don't need to have done any of these things before. We'll teach you. If you promise us motivation for the job and good values. This is how we promise you the opportunity to develop. In the company of hundreds of colleagues.

Good to know

Workplace: We recruit for both IKEA Bäckebol and IKEA Kållered.

Contracts: We offer fixed-term employment. During June-August, we offer employment at 80% a week, for a minimum of 6 weeks. Before and after your summer employment, you will work 8 hours a week, which corresponds to every other weekend and one weekday a week.

Employment start: Employment start for IKEA Bäckebol is in April or May. Employment start for IKEA Kållered is in early June.

Schedule: We work weekdays, evenings and weekends. Your working hours vary and will be scheduled.

Working hours: You can start at 05:15 at the earliest and end at 22:00 at the latest.

Salary: According to the Swedish Trade Union's collective agreement.

What happens now?

In this recruitment, we do not want any cover letters. Simply attach your CV and you will be asked to answer a number of questions when you make your application. Among other things, questions about which department store or stores you choose to apply to and which areas of work you are motivated by. If you go ahead, you will be invited to a video presentation (weeks 10-11), feedback or interview (weeks 12-13) and then reference checking if you become one of our final candidates.
