Position description
The process leader will actively streamline processes and facilitate progress of two ongoing research projects, HeatTrack and ModFurn, where Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), thermohydraulic and heat transfer are the core to develop innovative and effective solutions to support industry processes.
About the Projects
This HeatTrack project focuses on adaptive methods and tools for dynamic simulations of complex cooling systems relevant to industry. The ulimate goal is to enable modelling-based optimization, monitoring and diagnosis of cooling system operations to prevent failures of industrial processes.
The ModFurn project is dedicated to developing CFD-based simulation methods to investigate the details of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer in the slag fuming process of smelting furnances. Aiming to develop scalable and efficient modeling methods in a generic, modular way.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty and postdoc researchers to optimize workflows and oversee research activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, milestones and deliverables.
- Provide scientific support to postdocs in their research work, fostering progress in method development, system analysis, and interdisciplinary integration of technical aspects.
- Support the dissemination of research findings to industrial partners and the broader academic community through project meetings, conferences and peer-reviewed journal publications.
- In close collaboration with other faculty members, establish new research initiatives aligned with the department’s goals, focusing on innovative computer-based modelling and simulation methodologies and novel concepts and technologies for industrial applications in energy, mechanical and aerodynamic engineering.
Qualification requirements
The applicant must have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Energy Engineering. Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of Swedish are required for the position.
The candidate should demonstrate:
- Proven experience and a strong track record in leading national and international projects on CFD-based multi-physics modelling, high-fidelity simulations, and system development and analysis.
- Recognized capabilities in establishing collaborative research initiatives and securing research funding in interdisciplinary frameworks.
Merit
Additional merits include:
- Knowledge in data-driven techniques.
- Knowledge in flow control and/or Reduced Order Modelling (ROM).
- Knowledge in computational acoustic analysis and noise control.
- Experience of supervising.
- Experience of developing research networks and proposals.
- Experience in research coordination, documentation and reporting.
- Expertise in monitoring research progress and managing potential project risks.
- A relevant publication record in journals and conference proceedings.
- Experience of leading collaborative projects involving industrial, academic and research partners.
