Material Engineer
As a Material Engineer you will take active part in the materials development of sustainable, high-performing, and cost competitive cathode active material. You will lead smaller projects or tasks in the material development area. Build knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and apply it to the work and participate in development of patent applications.
Key responsibilities
- Development of cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries
- Physical and chemical characterization and validation of cathode materials
- Lead projects or tasks including planning of experiments, performing tests, summarizing the results, drawing conclusions, reporting, and keeping stakeholders updated.
- Hands on work in the lab for different projects.
- Instrument responsibility
- Work with external suppliers, institutes, and academic organizations, e.g. lead MSc student projects
- Stay updated on literature and patents in the cathode active material area
- Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between customers and Northvolt's internal stakeholders
- Support industrial-scale CAM manufacturing and recycling operations through targeted investigations and deep-dives
Qualifications and experience
- Master or PhD degree in engineering (material, chemical or similar)
- At least 3 years within the Cathode materials development
- 1+ year experience in hands-on laboratory development of active materials Strong analytical skills including material chartization and coin cell testing
- Plus, experience within anode material
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
- Experience from a multi-cultural environment
- Experience in Material Evaluation.
