We offer an exciting opportunity for an Automation Expert to be part of building Europe's first green steel mill, crucial to our mission to decarbonise hard-to-abate industries.

As a key member of our operations team in Boden, you will provide first-line technical expertise for the plant’s automation and control systems. We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation, drives, and medium-voltage equipment. Your proven ability to support and optimize automation processes in a heavy industrial environment will be essential to ensuring smooth plant operations.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for site wide automation expert and support automation with a special focus on PLTCM and AGL systems.

Help to implement a Functional IBA Process Data Acquisition System

Develop Training Protocol with E&A Managers and L1 Automation Engineers side wide with a focus on PLTCM and CGL

Oversee hardware, systems and networks essential to production automation

Troubleshoot and solve issues related to PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI, and communication Networks

Analyze production data to identify performance bottlenecks and ensuring accurate data collection and storage

Develop and maintain detailed documentation for automation systems as well as monitoring system performance

Ensure that automation systems meet safety, environmental and quality standards

Work directly with maintenance and operations teams to foster a safety-focused, efficient environment, supporting both plant-wide automation reliability and troubleshooting needs

Qualifications:

Experience from the steel industry or similar

Experience in working on a Pickling Line Tandem Cold Mill and CGL area during erection/commissioning as well as normal operations

Experience in the Acid Regeneration Plant process

Experience in Batch Annealing and Skin Pass Mill processes

Experience with PLC programing (Siemens preferred), data acquisition/analysis, and HMI programming

Experience with variable frequency drives, medium-voltage drives, and motor control systems.

Knowledge of medium-voltage power distribution systems and fault identification

Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment

Problem-solving skills

Highly motivated and self-directed with a hands-on approach

Open-mindedness and a willingness to learn
