Business Area (BA) Markets’ role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall’s single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. We employ around 500 professionals who are active across Europe with offices in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Within Markets BU Customers is offering power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks. We provide market access services to large customers and (regional) energy suppliers and connect demand-side flexibility of industry to stabilize the electricity grid. We furthermore source electricity for Vattenfall’s consumer- and business customers with a strong focus to increase renewable sources of electricity.

If so, you might be the next Head of Industry Origination we are looking for – based in Hamburg, Amsterdam or Stockholm.
As the Head of Industry Origination, you will take a key leadership role in driving our energy transition forward. You will lead and develop a high-performing, diverse team of originators, steering commercial strategies, nurturing long-term customer relationships, and delivering innovative solutions in renewable power markets. Your work will directly support Vattenfall’s vision to enable a fossil-free living within one generation.
Your key responsibilities
As the Head of Industry Origination, you will:
- Lead and empower your team of originators by fostering a collaborative, high-trust, and innovation-focused culture. Guide their development and help them grow into future leaders.
- Drive commercial success by identifying, structuring, and closing complex renewable energy deals – helping to reduce merchant exposure and secure green energy supply for our customers.
- Shape and execute strategy by developing origination plans aligned with Vattenfall’s goals and market developments.
- Support and lead negotiations, playing an active role in driving high-impact deals and guiding key commercial discussions.
- Engage stakeholders by building strong, trust-based relationships with energy producers, industrial customers, and internal partners across the organization.
- Monitor performance by setting targets, measuring success, and continuously improving the way your team works.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Business Area Wind (including Solar), Trading, Operations, and Risk to develop joint value propositions and accelerate the growth of our renewables business.
- Keep a finger on the pulse of market trends, regulations, and emerging customer needs – turning insights into action and supporting senior management with strategic input.
Qualifications
Your profile
We are looking for an inclusive and strategic leader who inspires others and thrives in a dynamic, international environment. You should also recognize yourself in the following:
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in the power market, ideally in sales or origination, with a proven customer network to boost our CPPA pipeline.
- Strong market insight, gained from working in origination or commercial functions within energy companies, utilities, or similar sectors.
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of building, leading, and motivating successful teams – combining a results-driven mindset with empathy and authenticity.
- Strategic thinker, capable of developing actionable plans that align with Vattenfall’s sustainability and commercial goals.
- Strong communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels and coordinate complex internal approval processes.
- Commercially driven, with the ability to balance customer value, internal collaboration, and risk management.
- Well-connected, with excellent networking skills that help open doors and build trusted partnerships.
- Resilient and committed, bringing energy and drive to overcome challenges and deliver on long-term ambitions.
- Educated to degree level, ideally in a commercial, technical, or economic field—or with equivalent professional experience.
