About this opportunity:

Ericsson and some of the world’s largest telecom operators have announced a new venture to combine and sell network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) on a global scale to spur innovation in digital services. The venture will drive implementation and access to common APIs from multiple telecom service providers around the world to a broader ecosystem of developer platforms. We are seeking a Privacy Legal Counsel for Aduna, which will be 50% owned by Ericsson and 50% owned by telecom operators. Aduna Group consists of entities in US, Sweden, Poland and Canada.


The role as Privacy Legal will be responsible of driving privacy compliance at Aduna and supporting the business teams on commercial matters connected to privacy. In this role you will provide a unique opportunity to collaborate with telecoms industry leaders and hyperscalers and help the industry develop best practices for privacy in CAMARA APIs.

What you will do:

  • Building Aduna privacy compliance framework, support its implementation.
  • Manage Aduna’s records of processing activities, data transfer agreements and SCCs, DPIAs, TIAs, privacy notices and DSAR processes.
  • Advising commercial teams on applicable privacy requirements in products, services and operations, including privacy by design.
  • Representing Aduna to its suppliers, onward providers and the enterprise customers and negotiating relevant data protection agreements and privacy practices with resellers, suppliers, vendors and customers.
  • Monitoring, communicating and adjusting to developments in global privacy legal frameworks as well as in relevant industry best practices and standards.
  • Promoting and maintaining privacy awareness across Aduna and delivering effective, role-based privacy training programs.
  • Identify local and global privacy compliance and contractual risks and manage privacy governance.
  • Managing consultants and outside counsel, conducting market entry analysis as needed.

The skills you bring:

Required

  • At least 10 years of experience working in privacy with in-house experience in a privacy department a requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, preferably qualified in the EU.
  • Expert legal or regulatory skills in privacy and data protection in the US, the UK and the EU,
  • Competency in GDPR, and sufficient understanding of UK GDPR, CCPA, e-Privacy regulations and other prominent privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems in a complex technology and business environment by creating simple, repeatable and actionable solutions and policy positions.
  • High degree of familiarity with risk analysis frameworks, communications regulatory compliance, and governance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, public speaking and people skills
  • Results oriented, proactive, responsible, pragmatic and ethical person with a strong interest in technologies and their societal impact.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Persistence to drive change over time

Desirable

  • Exposure to multinational companies or JV structures, and
  • Experience in privacy compliance over multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience in telecoms industry
  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US or similar privacy certifications
