Overview:

To ensure we fill all competence gaps in our Guidewire development teams this is not a  traditional Guidewire development assignment, we want a modern engineer who can drive  test automation, continuous delivery, and engineering excellence across the squad. You  will help evolve our technical stack, bring in new practices such as feature toggling and  CI/CD, and enable your teammates to deliver quality at speed.

Objectives:

• Modernize and elevate engineering practices within the Guidewire Squad(s)
• Implement and enable feature toggling, automated testing, and continuous delivery
• Mentor, enable, and upskill other developers in the squad
• Deliver robust, extensible, and maintainable solutions well beyond just Guidewire 
  
  config/code

Example of tasks and responsibilities that could be appointed to you:

• Drive adoption of the test pyramid (unit, contract, integration, subsystem, E2E) and 
  
  ensure continuous testing at all levels
• Collaborate to modernize the squad’s development lifecycle, architecture, code, 
  
  and pipelines
• Champion the use of feature toggling for safe, incremental rollout of new 
  
  functionality

Automation and CI/CD

• Evaluate, design and implement improved automated CI/CD pipelines
  
  
• Integrate tests and quality gates into the delivery process for early, reliable feedback
• Help introduce blue/green or canary deployment strategies using toggles
  
  

Development and Code Quality

• Write high-quality code on the Guidewire platform
  
  
• Apply clean architecture, modularity, and extensibility in all deliveries
  
  
• Take the lead on improving error handling, logging, and observability

Enablement and Mentorship

• Mentor engineers, building playbooks and best practice guides
• Lead by example, proactive in sharing knowledge, running workshops, and guiding  reviews

Continuous Improvement

• Analyze and refine delivery and engineering processes, removing bottlenecks
  
  
• Roll out tools, frameworks, and practices that advance squad maturity
  
  
• Act as the bridge between Engineering Excellence and the squad, ensuring  alignment on program and enterprise level

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align on  priorities and requirements
  
  
• Communicate technical solutions clearly, and advocate for sustainable, scalable  approaches

Qualifications:

• Strong experience in Java development, ideally with Guidewire or similar platforms
  
  
• Proven track record in driving test automation (unit, contract, integration, subsystem, E2E) and CI/CD adoption
• Practical experience implementing feature toggling/flags in standard tools like  LaunchDarkly
  
  
• Familiarity with modern DevOps, cloud, and infrastructure as code is a plus
  
  
• Experience with Guidewire, or Gosu is an advantage
  
  
• Excellent problem-solving, mentoring, and communication skills
  
  
• Passionate about raising engineering standards and enabling others
  
  
• Fluent in English, proficiency in Swedish is an advantage
