Your role and responsibilities
In the Robotics team, we focus on robot concepts and design, autonomous and intelligent robots, as well as robotic applications in both industrial and service segments. Our research activities are typically structured as technology pre-studies and technology development projects. We work closely with ABB’s robotics business to ensure that our research delivers unique value to ABB’s future offerings. At the same time, we maintain strong collaborations with academia to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application.
One of the key milestones in our team’s history is the creation and development of the dual-arm YuMi robot concept, as well as the mobile YuMi concept.

- The role requires solid knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing and developing vision systems for robotic applications. This includes integrating AI to enable next-generation autonomous robots capable of tasks such as dynamic object grasping in unstructured environments.
- You are expected to independently drive activities toward successful outcomes while maintaining a long-term vision. You will also document results through technical reports, invention disclosures, and scientific publications, and regularly present your work to peers, collaborators, and key stakeholders within and outside ABB.
