The Synopsys Lund team works with new product development and supporting of the HAPS hardware platforms. As a member of this great team you will be given the opportunity to be a part of the entire design process, from product specification to test and validation.
We are looking for a talented individual for a simulation engineering role focused on thermals within the R&D team to design, analyze and optimize thermal management solutions for electronics components and systems. The role requires deep knowledge of thermal behavior in PCBs, devices, electronic packaging, with an emphasis on system-level behavior.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Pre-design phase:
- Perform thermal analysis of PCB design, collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize layout, review design work, and provide design guidelines
- Design and optimize thermal solutions for electronic systems, including heatsinks, fans, vapor chambers, etc
- Air Flow analysis
- Conduct studies for next-generation cooling strategies
Post design phase:
- Verification of results
- Develop thermal testing protocols
- Implement measurements and analyze results
- Thermal test design in climate chamber
- Apply root-cause investigations of thermal failures
Experience in at least 3 of the above areas is a requirement.
Typical candidate background:
- Minimum BS with 8+ years/MS with 5+ years in thermal analysis or similar other relevant fields
- Proficiency in thermal modeling and simulation software, experience with Ansys IcePak and Fluent.
- Experience in 3D CAD tools , e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, etc.
- Relevant and documented experience of above areas
- Good problem solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication in written and spoken English
- Strong interest and desire to develop and learn new things within electronics thermal analysis
Other desirable attributes:
- Experience of hardware design with FPGAs and/or use of FPGAs in other applications
- Programming or scripting experience
