The Department of Biology and Environment (BOM) is part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The research activities of this interdisciplinary department cover areas such as aquatic ecology, cell and organismal biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and technology, animal welfare and zoonotic ecology.
Job description:
You will work in the laboratory support activities linked to two different research centers at the Department of Biology and Environmental Science, where we study, among other things: 1) geochemical issues (e.g., in acidic sulfate soils, contaminated areas, marine sediments, and bedrock), and 2) ecological issues (e.g., viruses, microorganisms, plankton, fish, and bird life in the Baltic Sea). Your work will include fieldwork, various types of general laboratory work and chemical analyses, as well as nucleic acid extraction followed by PCR analysis.
Qualifications:
Requirements: Bachelor's degree that includes courses in microbiology, geochemistry, and/or ecology. The working language is English, so you need to be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English. Experience of field work and of working with various methods/techniques in a laboratory.
Merit: Class B driver's license.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Subject area for the position: Biology and environmental science.
Employment and scope: Fixed-term employment for eleven months, 100%.
Start date: Start date by agreement.
Location for the time being: Kalmar.
