The opportunity

In the role as a tendering specialist, you will be part of our Grid Automation Europe tendering team within the Hitachi Energy Group. The tendering organisation is truly international and located in various locations across Europe and supported by our dedicated team in India. We operate in a dynamic and growing market and are now seeking to strengthen the team with an experienced tendering professional in Västerås, Sweden.

In this role you are responsible for leading tenders from the initial request for quotation to contract closing and handover to our operations team. The activities include creating and completing bids/estimations/quotations based on our customer’s technical specifications and other requirements. You will ensure that in delivering high quality tenders we achieve both market competitiveness and profitable business.

Your field of operation will be in the substation market, and you will have the opportunity to handle a variety of tenders in our customer markets. The focus will be on either loose product sales, project business or our fast-growing service business and will depend on your interest and experience.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Close co-operation with the supply chain management to capture quotations from other suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Cost calculation estimations and determination of costs, margins and sales price in cooperation with our sales team.
  • Contribute to the consideration of the risks to our business in conducting the proposed works.
  • Tender planning and on time tender submittals.
  • Preparation of tendering documents and reports for internal reviews and tender submission approvals.
  • Interact and work collaboratively with our European/Indian tendering team, operational team and factory units.
  • Creation of commercially, legally, and technically optimised and high-quality offers, based on the specifications of our customer.
  • Definition and scope of the supply to be offered.

Your background:

  • Higher education (e.g., bachelor's or master’s degree) in electrical engineering, economics or similar.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiations skills.
  • Understanding of substation automation, control, and protection solutions and good knowledge of the grid automation market.
  • Previous professional experience and a good track record with a similar business area.
  • Strong understanding and previous experience of tendering and commercial process.
  • Willingness to travel and attend customer meetings.
  • Competent in MS Office Skills including Word, Excel. PowerPoint etc,
  • It is mandatory to be fluent in English and have good Swedish skills in this position, verbally and written.
