Senior Team Lead, Data Science (Operational Leader)

This individual has proven their ability to lead projects and is now responsible for a broader domain or multiple complex initiatives. They are less hands-on with coding but provide deep technical oversight and begin to focus on process improvement.

• Oversee the successful delivery of multiple complex data science initiatives or a significant business domain (e.g., Player Safety, Marketing Analytics).
• Define and drive the technical roadmap for your domain, making critical decisions on methodologies, tools, and architecture to meet future business needs.
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, potentially including other Team Leads, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Manage relationships with senior product and business stakeholders, ensuring strategic alignment, managing expectations, and translating business goals into a data science agenda.
• Serve as the ultimate technical escalation point for your domain, guiding the team through the most complex analytical and modelling challenges.
• Proactively identify and implement improvements to our data science workflows, processes, and tooling to increase team velocity and impact.
• Take a lead role in performance management and career development planning for your team members, identifying growth opportunities and skill gaps.
• Ensure your team's work aligns with the broader data strategy and delivers measurable, quantifiable business value.
• Represent your domain's work and strategy in cross-functional planning sessions and leadership meetings to communicate your team's goals and objectives effectively.
