Programme Manager at the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation

Responsibilities and Tasks

Take part in the development and implementation of activities and outputs in the Foundation’s UN Funding and Effectiveness Programme Area. Such as:

• Build capacity of Member states, Resident Coordinator Offices and UN agencies on mobilisation of quality funding through organising and facilitating seminars and meetings on UN Funding and Funding Compact.
• Participate in the planning and production of the report series Financing the UN Development System, in partnership with UN MTFO and/or other partners.
• Continue review of the implementation of the Funding Compact at the country level, in partnership with UN DCO.
• Explore challenges and opportunities with key UN donor Member States and UN agencies on pooled funding, core funding and soft earmarking.
• Advocate with UN member states and UN agencies for quality funding and effectiveness as well as representing the Foundation in official meetings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (eg social or political science, international relations), or similar qualifications otherwise acquired.
• Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience from within the UN system, and/or as a UN Member State representative working towards the UN system, and/or civil society engagement with the UN system.
• Experience on development financing and/or UN reform and UN coordination.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced international environment.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Open-mindedness, flexibility, the ability to be a good team player, and an understanding of the work of a value-based organisation.
• Willingness and ability to participate in limited international travel.

Merits

• Experience in development and implementation of high-level advocacy activities that align with global agendas and SDG.
• Experience in the field, particularly in sustainable development contexts at the country level, including work with UN Country Teams or UN agencies.
• Experience in data analytics, research or related area.
• Experience working in humanitarian and emergency settings is highly preferred
