Automation Platform Lead (Whitebox Networking / SONiC)

About the Role

CHNEUR AB is building a next-generation fully automated whitebox switch platform for data centers, AI clusters, and enterprise fabrics.

We are looking for a senior Automation Platform Lead who will architect and implement our end-to-end automation stack — including ZTP, gNMI/gRPC pipelines, telemetry engines, configuration orchestration, and large-scale distributed automation services.

You will work directly with the founder to design and develop our core automation system that integrates SONiC, whitebox hardware (Edgecore, Quanta, Asterfusion), and high-performance network automation workflows.

This is a high-impact, product-building role for someone who wants to shape the automation platform from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

1. Automation Platform Architecture

• Design the architecture of a large-scale automation system for whitebox/SONiC switches.
• Build components for ZTP, configuration pipelines, topology orchestration, state management, and distributed task execution.

2. Backend & Core System Development

• Develop high-performance backend modules using C++ / Node.js / Linux system programming.
• Build agents, controllers, schedulers, and automation engines capable of managing large switch fleets.

3. Integration with Networking Technologies

• Implement automation logic for BGP/EVPN, Fabric deployment, RoCE, telemetry, QoS, and switch configuration flows.
• Work with SONiC APIs, SAI, gNMI, and vendor SDKs.

4. Distributed System & Observability Development

• Build robust telemetry pipelines (Prometheus, exporters, event collectors).
• Ensure scalability, concurrency, and reliability across automation services.

5. Collaboration and Technical Leadership

• Work closely with networking experts to convert designs into automation workflows.
• Provide technical guidance and help establish coding standards and automation frameworks.

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Technical Background (MUST)

• 10+ years building distributed backend systems or high-performance automation platforms.
• 
  
• Strong expertise in C++, Node.js, Linux internals, multi-threading, concurrency, performance optimization.

• Experience designing large-scale orchestration, agent frameworks, or automation platforms.
• 
  
• Deep understanding of system-level programming (epoll, async IO, network sockets, IPC).
• 
  
• Proven experience integrating multi-language systems (C++ + JS/Node + Python/Go).

Networking & Automation Knowledge(Preferable / or willing to learn)

• Experience with gRPC / gNMI / protobuf.
• Understanding of whitebox switches, SONiC, or network automation concepts (Ansible, ZTP, CI/CD).
• Familiarity with BGP/EVPN/L3 Fabric concepts is a plus (training provided).

Bonus Skills

• Experience in DevOps, CI/CD, observability, telemetry, or distributed scheduling systems.
• Startup / CTO / Architect experience highly valued.
