Senior System Architect / Refrigerant System Engineer – Thermal Management

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior System Architect / Refrigerant System Engineer to join a Thermal Management team working with advanced propulsion platforms including internal combustion, battery electric, and fuel cell vehicles.

In this role, you will act as a key technical expert responsible for defining and developing complete system solutions within refrigerant and thermal management domains. You will bridge component development and system-level architecture, ensuring robust, scalable, and future-ready system designs.

You will collaborate with system architects, function developers, component owners, test engineers, simulation engineers, and other cross-functional stakeholders to define system concepts, requirements, and integration strategies.

This position is suited for a recognized expert with extensive experience in system engineering and thermal management, capable of influencing technical direction and contributing to innovation in sustainable transport solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end functional specifications and system-level requirements aligned with product objectives
• Define, develop, and analyze thermal and refrigerant system concepts
• Coordinate system targets and collaborate with cross-functional teams globally
• Support component selection and evaluate suitability against system requirements
• Contribute to complete system architecture, integration, and validation
• Ensure system solutions are scalable and support ongoing functional development
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across engineering disciplines
• Support system verification through testing, simulation, and virtual validation methods
• Act as a technical expert and contribute to knowledge sharing and technical development within the organization

Required Qualifications

• M.Sc. degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• Extensive experience in system engineering (typically 12+ years for senior expert level)
• Strong experience in thermal management, heat transfer, refrigerant systems, and cooling system development
• Experience working with complete system architecture and integration
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with digital twin development and virtual verification methods
• Experience working in electrified propulsion systems (BEV, FCEV, hybrid, or ICE platforms)
• Experience working in global, cross-functional engineering environments
