HSE Officer
Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.
We are participating in a project where STEGRA (H2 Green Steel) establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.
We now want to employ a HSE Officer (Health, Safety and Environment Officer). The work tasks may include but are not limited to:
Role Overview:
The HSE Officer supports the implementation and administration of the project's Health, Safety and Environmental management system. The role initially focuses on HSE documentation, records, reporting, training coordination and administrative support, while progressively developing practical site HSE experience under the guidance of experienced HSE personnel.
Job Description
- HSE Documentation & Records: Maintain HSE documentation, registers, inspection records, training records, certificates and other project HSE files.
- Reporting & Tracking: Support preparation of daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports, statistics and KPIs, and maintain follow-up records for HSE observations and corrective actions.
- Training Support: Assist with HSE inductions, toolbox talks, training coordination, attendance records and preparation of training materials.
- Risk Management Support: Assist the HSE team with Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work documentation and other safety documentation.
- Incident Management Support: Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, documentation, investigation records and corrective-action follow-up.
- Compliance Support: Support implementation of project HSE procedures and applicable Swedish work environment requirements.
- Site HSE Support: Participate in site inspections, safety walks and workplace observations under the guidance of experienced HSE personnel and follow up identified actions.
- HSE Communication: Support preparation and distribution of safety alerts, awareness materials and other HSE communications.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the HSE team in maintaining and continuously improving the project's HSE management system.
Qualifications (not mandatory):
- Relevant HSE qualification or certification; NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent is preferred.
- BAS-P/BAS-U and/or knowledge of Swedish work environment requirements is an advantage.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Willingness to learn and progressively develop practical construction HSE competence.
- Previous HSE, industrial, manufacturing or construction experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
